On Your Marks, Get Set, Go!

1. Research the Company

  • Learn about the company's mission, products, and culture.
  • Be prepared to explain why you want to work there.

2.  Build Experience Early

  • Include internships, part-time jobs, volunteer work, campus leadership, or personal projects.


3.  Create a Professional Online Presence

  • Remove unprofessional content from public social media accounts.
  • Showcase projects, portfolios, or achievements when possible.

4.  Network

  • Attend career fairs, industry events, and campus recruiting sessions.
  • Connect with professors, alumni, and professionals in your field.
  • Many opportunities come through referrals.

5. Evaluate the quality of your skills

  • Soft skills  (examples include teamwork, adaptability, time management, & communication)
  • Hard skills (examples include  google slides, Microsoft word, robotics,  foreign language proficiency & public speaking)
